DURBAN – Today, the “Captain Lollipop” Be My Buddy. Not a Bully” phase two was hosted, targeting learners in the senior primary phase, grade 7.
Created and hosted by Brighton Beach Corporate Communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux with support from volunteers from Community Safety and Liaison to assist in enhancing the learning experience.
The senior phase concentrates on criminal capacity, children in conflict of the law and the Dangerous Weapons Act.
Bullying in its various forms, which included assault common, assault GBH, crimen injuria, harassment, cyber bullying and theft was facilitated.
The presentation also mentored the rights of children in terms of the Constitution, while being mindful of the rights of others when executing these rights, by acting within the prescripts of the Law.
Learners were encouraged to practice tolerance and mutual respect towards each other.
Through this safer schools initiative, the strategic objectives of the SAPS were attained. The presentation hosted educational value, while focussing on a prevailing ill within the schooling environment, which threatens the wellness of learners’ day.
Learners and educators from Fynnlands Primary School attended the presentations. School bullying information guides were distributed.
Capt. Louise Le Roux thanks the Principal and educators from Fynnlands Primary School for affording the SAPS a platform to host the safer schools initiative.
