LEBOWAKGOMO – The South African Police Service in Limpopo took part in the Parliamentary Constituency Programme that was held on Saturday, 17 September 2022, at Ga -Chuene, Thogoaneng village under the Lebowakgomo policing area in the Capricorn District.
The main purpose of the gathering, which was also attended by various stakeholders, was to discuss and find solutions that will assist in curbing the scourge of gender-based violence and femicide. This after several incidents of gender-based violence and femicide took place in this policing area.
The programme was attended by SAPS members from the Provincial, District and Station levels. Colonel Makhura represented the Capricorn District and members from the stations which included Lebowakgomo, Zebediela, Polokwane and Seshego were mostly representing Men for Change Forum.
In attendance were also Mr Levy Maja, from Maja/Taxi Associations, representatives from both Ga-Chuene and Maja Tribal Council, Mr Serobi Maja from Department of Education, Ms Nomonde Shivambu from Department of Community Safety, Office of the Executive Mayor of Polokwane represented by Councilor T.J.Mamabolo and community members.
All the questions that were tabled by community members during the engagement were answered accordingly by the panel.
