SAPS Muswodi embarked on 16 Days of Activism for no Violence Against Women and Children campaign

MUSWODI- In support of the annual 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign, members of SAPS Muswodi, led by Station Commander Captain Nekhunguni, Vispol Commander Warrant Officer Davhana, Acting Detective Commander Sergeant Netshiungani, Operational Commander Sergeant Maisha and Constable Mudau from Social Crime Prevention, together CPF members initiated an awareness campaign.

 

The event was held on Sunday, 28 November 2021 at Tshikhudini Village. The team addressed the community members on the services offered and rendered by the Family, Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit to the victims.

 

Captain Nekhunguni urged the community to report sexual offences and any violence perpetrated against women and children as well as the elderly. He also gave a stern warning to the community that the police will have a “zero tolerance” approach when it comes to GBV.

 

Members of the community were also warned about other crimes that are prevalent in this area such as assault GBH, drug abuse and stock theft. Warrant Officer Davhana urged the community to brand mark their livestock and to follow the right processes of selling and buying animals.

 

Sergeant Maisha adressed COVID-19 regulations and substance abuse whereas, Sergeant Netshiungani urged the community to work closely with the police by providing positive information, refrain from harbouring criminals including illegal immigrants.

 

All the questions asked by the community were answered to their satisfaction and the local Chief Manenzhe.
