SAPS Limpopo Provincial Corporate Communication kick starts community mobilisation for the launch of safer festive operations

On Thursday 20 October 2022, Sergeant Maphure Manamela and Intern Tshepo Moloto attached to the Provincial Media Center in Limpopo joined by SAPS Mphephu Communication Officer Sergeant Olga Tshikalaha conducted radio campaign with Nzhelele F.M situated in the Siloam policing area.

The focus was on partnership policing and community mobilization for the launch of Festive Season Operations by Minister of Police General Bheki Cele in Thohoyandou on Friday 28 October 2022.

The community was informed about the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe’s visit earlier at the Sioam Police Station where she met with community leaders and key stakeholders to discuss about the crime situation in the Siloam policing area and surrounding areas.

▪Community members were urged to establish community crime prevention based structures such as CPF, YAC, YCOP and Community in Blue, support outreach programmes and other initiatives aimed to assist the police in the fight against crime.

▪Other serious issues discussed were incidents of mob justice and violent protests. Residents were warned against damaging of infrastructure and taking the law into their own hands. They must instead work with the police and share any information that they believe can assist with investigation immediately.

The members also addressed Gangsterism, illegal immigrants, substance abuse and illegal shebeens. Community members were applauded for their continued support in the fight against crime.
