The South African Police Service in Limpopo today held a Prayer Day in honour of the fallen heroes and heroines. The event was held in the Pentacostal Assemblies Church in Giyani.
The National Prayer Day is an annual event which is held during the month of September to honour those fallen heroes and heroines who paid the ultimate price serving the people of South Africa. The Provincial Prayer Day events are held in all the Provinces and they precede the National Prayer Day which is held a day before.
The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe was represented by her Provincial Management comprising the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Corporate Support, Major General Christina Morakaladi and Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for policing Major General Jan Scheepers, the District Commissioners, Provincial Heads and Stations Commanders in the Mopani District.
The Mayor of Giyani Local Municipality Cllr T Zitha, the HOD in the Department of Transport and Community Safety Mr Steve Matjena and the Provincial Chairperson of the CPF Board Mr Frans Kganyago were also in attendance.
The event, which was led by the Chaplains from around the Province, supported by leaders from other religious groups, was characterized by interdenominational prayer sessions and candle lighting.
