SAPS Kariega Investigate Inquest After Two Toddlers Drowned

Kariega: SAPS Kariega opened an inquest after two toddlers drowned in a swimming pool in Kariega earlier on Friday 31 October 2025. According to information gathered at approximately 11:00, the SAPS members responded to a complaint of a drowning in Len Bason Street, Kariega. On arrival, they found two toddler boys, Cairo-Asher Sauls (3) and Shyloh Sauls (2), who were cousins, already taken out of the pool by a 12-year-old cousin. Both toddlers passed away.

According to South African Police Service, an inquest investigation is ongoing. The tragic incident has prompted authorities to look into the circumstances surrounding the drowning. The police are urging the community to exercise caution and ensure safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
