BLOEMFONTEIN - Today, the Premier of Free State, Honourable Sisi Ntombela was accompanied by the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele, with all the MEC’s and government senior managers during the launch of Free State, ‘Operation Phethisa’ which saw various departments receiving vehicles that will assist in fast tracking service delivery in the Province.
These are the resources which will improve service delivery as mandated to be brought to our people by our government.
While welcoming the guests, MEC Mxolisi Dukwane, indicated Free State Province are taking the lead in providing services to our people. He welcomed the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele who embraced this event with his attendance.
MEC William Bulwane from Police, Roads and Transport, while addressing the audience and outlining the purpose of the event, said this collective and collaborative approach which was the spearheaded by our Premier, will benefit the Province.
Learners from Mangaung Primary School in Batho showcased their skills during a drill performance.
When addressing the audience, the Premier of Free State expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Minister of Police and the entire leadership of the Province who have graced this event with their presence. She further reaffirmed to fulfil promises made to communities with regards to service delivery.
The main message for the day was delivered by the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele. He urged the community to assist the police in the fight against crime while also encouraging communities to report crime. After the Guard of Honour, which consisted of only women, members concluded the day’s proceedings with March Pass to which the Minister of Police acknowledged their Salute, which was followed by parading of all vehicles from all other departments.
The programme concluded in a jubilant mood, with Bobbiespark SAPS Sport Grounds painted in blue, with the sounds of sirens to celebrate the new resources which will bolster service delivery within our communities. The Minister of Police embarked on a walkabout at Central Park Mall where he engaged with shoppers and he also paid a visit to Parkweg Police Station
