JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL – Members of SAPS Johannesburg Central apprehended two suspects, aged 22 and 30 years old, for carjacking in Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD) on Sunday, 24 July 2022.

According to a preliminary report the suspects allegedly accosted and hijacked the driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) while stationary at a red traffic light in Johannesburg CBD. The driver was allegedly pulled out of the vehicle and assaulted by the duo before he ran away. The suspects then allegedly fled the scene in the SUV.

The victim later noticed the suspects are still driving around in the area with his vehicle and he immediately alerted the police. This led to the duo’s swift arrest and the recovery of the hijacked vehicle.
