SAPS in Capricorn District raise the flag high as they kick off back to school Safer Schools awareness campaigns

CAPRICORN DISTRICT - Learners from across the Capricorn District reported for the start of the new academic year today, Wednesday 11 January 2023.

The Capricorn District Commissioner, Major General Lesiba Mashilo, alongside the Provincial Men for Change Deputy Champion, Sergeant Moses Molepo visited three high schools namely, Makgofe,Mulaudzi and Mohlapetse respectively.

The purpose of the visit was to address learners on crime related issues. Speaking to the learners, Major General Mashilo emphasised discipline. He encouraged learners to be respectful at all times and avoid being involved in criminal activities.

He urged them to stay away from drugs."Recent Constitutional Judgement against Prince Vs State President did not give you permission to abuse drugs. The decision is against smoking of dagga by young people and the Apex Court also held that dagga cannot be used in public place under no circumstances", said the General.

In short he alluded that drugs will not be tolerated on school premises, which are major contributors of bullying and violence in schools.

Sergeant Molepo added that the safety of learners, educators and support staff remains the Police' priority and all the necessary safety measures are in place for the 2023 academic year.

SAPS members were accompanied by Seshego circuit Manager Mrs Kganyago.
