SAPS fights Gender Based Violence through community engagement in Indwe

South African Police Service together with Department of Community Safety and other stakeholders engaged with community of Indwe and surrounding areas in Chris Hani District during a Policing Accountability Session that took place at Indwe Town Hall today, 21 September 2021.

 

The multi-disciplinary session aimed ensuring collective efforts in fighting criminality, especially Gender Based Violence and Femicide in the society.

 

Acting Chris Hani District Commissioner, Brigadier Zuziwe Magqashela indicated that Gender Based Violence and Femicide is a serious concern for the South African Service, and fighting the scourge requires integrated work in ensuring safety of different communities. She urged the community to assist and support the police in eradicating criminality in their respective environments.

 

Chris Hani District Manager for Community Safety, Mr. Sizwe Sikwebu explained significance of role of the community in ensuring safety, starting from their homesteads, further to neighbourhood. He encouraged them to work with SAPS sector managers in implementing workable strategies to ensure reduction of criminality.

 

The community utilised the platform to register their concerns about crime-related issues in Indwe and surrounding areas, and also took advantage of SAPS Service Complaints Desk that was at the venue of the session.
