GQEBERHA – The Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Maj Gen Vuyisile Ncata congratulated a police Sergeant from SAPS Kwazakele on winning the National Bodybuilding Championship in October 2022 in Cape Town.
Sergeant Khanyalethu Dindale’s interest in the sport started three years ago when he was spotted by the owner of a local gym at the Motherwell Sports Centre where he trains. His enthusiasm about fitness, a healthy lifestyle and sports is what motivated the 45-year-old to pursue into the field of bodybuilding. The owner of the gym, Myamezeli Gray took a personal interest in Dindale’s workouts and coached him towards championship style of training.
He started only competing in competitions about three months ago and added three medals to his title. In his debut competition which was hosted by the Intsimbi Fitness Group at the Motherwell Fitness Centre, he was placed third in the overall competition. Sgt Dindale quickly worked on his flaws to attain perfection in his second competition which was the EP Bodybuilding Championships held in September 2022 at the Pieter Rademeyer hall in Algoa Park. He effortlessly breezed into the number one spot and snatched the Provincial title in the 1-75kg category.
His tenacity and persistence for the sport pushed him to the limits to train even harder for the National championship. He persevered in honing his form, areas of strength, and weaknesses in preparation for the National competition.
On 01 October 2022, Sgt Dindale proudly represented the Eastern Cape in Parow in Cape Town at the 2022 SANBA National Natural Bodybuilding Championship. There was a lot of planning that went into the personal development for this event, and Dindale had to follow a stringent diet and exercise regimen. Eating only vegetables and lean meats became a normal healthy lifestyle in order to maintain his weight and lean-look body. He had eliminated many of his rivals during the competition and eventually found himself in the tournament final, leaving with the day’s championship trophy, in hand.
As motivation to his peers, he added that “never let your passion die as it could open doors you never imagined and to never give up on your dreams. Perseverance and hard work, always pays off in the end.’ Sgt Dindale also added that bodybuilding is a very disciplined sport and this helps him tremendously in his working environment. ‘The training also helps me to stay fit so that I can keep up to the pace of fleeing criminals,’ scoffed Sgt Dindale.
Dindale is currently preparing for the 2023 world championships where he will compete abroad for the title.
Maj Gen Ncata applauded the sterling accolades achieved by the member in chasing his dreams. ‘Sgt Dindale is an epitome of a go-getter who strives for perfection. As the SAPS family we are proud of him and wish him well in his future accomplishments. He is an inspiration to his peers as well as the youth in his community,’ added Maj Gen Ncata.
