BULTFONTEIN – Three alleged BTK gangsters were arrested by the Welkom Public Order Policing (POP) Reaction Team members during crime combating patrols on Saturday, 20 November 2021 in Phahameng, Bultfontein.
During the patrol in Phahameng, members noticed a group of people running in different directions near Shadrack’s tavern. Upon closer inspection, SAPS members observed two men estimated to be between the ages of 27 to 34 known to belonging to a gang called ‘BTK’ armed with knives.
Members were able to corner the two suspects inside the shop and arrested them for business robbery and possession of dangerous weapons. Preliminary investigation revealed that the same suspects allegedly robbed a victim of R1500 cash.
In a separate incident, on 20 November 2021, the same members, arrested a 21-year-old suspect also known to belong to a gang called ‘BTK’ (Born to Kill) after been captured and identified on the local tavern CCTV camera footage, robbing a customer of cash that amounts to R1000.
The arrested suspects will appear on the 23 November 2021 in Bultfontein Magistrate’s Court.
