WINDHOEK: Rössing Uranium on Thursday handed over a sponsorship of N.dollars 50 000 to the SFC Swakopmund Sports Club, towards its annual youth tournament.

The tournament is slated for the weekend of 09 to 11 August and 14 to 15 September 2024.

The tournament will see teams from Windhoek, Rosh Pinah, Swakopmund, and the northern part of the country competing for top honours.

A statement shared with Nampa by Rössing Uranium on Thursday quotes its spokesperson Daylight Ekandjo as saying that youth, and sports are part of the mine’s corporate social investment focus areas.

‘We take a keen interest in investing in youth development activities such as this, and we are continuously looking for opportunities to invest in youth development projects. The work of SFC is noted and the impact is what we need to develop sports in this country,’ said Ekandjo.

SFC technical director, Gerald Gther on his part said that the donation from Rössing will go a long way in ensuring that young sports talent is developed.

‘Than
k you Rössing for the donation. The donation will enable us to have a smooth tournament and make sure the young ones get the platform to display and develop their skills,’ Gther said.
