At least 13 people were killed and 46 others injured on Friday night after a fuel tanker collided with an intercity bus on the Katiola-Niakara highway in northern Cote d’Ivoire, according to security sources.
The fuel tanker and the bus collided 36 km south of the town of Niakara, triggering a fire that was later controlled by the local fire department.
Rescue teams transported the injured to nearby hospitals, said the sources.
Cote d’Ivoire records approximately 6,000 road accidents each year, leading to around 600 deaths and over 13,000 injuries, according to the National Road Safety Office. Enditem
