Re-opening of Welgelegen drop-off facility postponed

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Waste Management Directorate regrets to inform the public that the re-opening of the Welgelegen Drop-off facility will be delayed by a week.

The facility has been closed since 12 January 2022 for resurfacing, and will now reopen to the public on Wednesday, 23 March 2022, as opposed to 14 March as originally scheduled due to delays experienced at the beginning of the project.

The alternative drop-off facilities are Killarney, Tygerdal and De Grendel. For more information on the operation times of the City’s Drop-off facilities, see the following link: https://bit.ly/3IOjhiB

‘Effective waste disposal such as drop-off facilities is a valuable service provided by the City.  As a result, we are doing all we can to ensure the reopening of the Welgelegen Drop-off facility as soon as possible. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
