MOUNT AYLIFF – The SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit is appealing for assistance from the public for information that could lead to the arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in the rape of a girl, aged 16, who was found on the road side near the forest, at about 15:00, on Friday, 15 April 2022, at Cabazana Locality, in Mount Ayliff.
According to the information, the girl was on her way home when she was dragged to a nearby forest by an unknown male suspect, where she was raped and stabbed by the suspect. She was helped by a passer-by who called family members and the ambulance and was transported to a nearby hospital where she received medical attention. At the present moment there is no information regarding the identity of the suspect. However, police investigation is continuing. A case of rape and assault GBH have been registered.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene has expressed shock at the brutal incident and as such, has also ordered a team of highly trained investigators in Mt Ayliff to track, trace and find the perpetrator.
