Provincial Commissioner meets members of Pixley ka Seme District

NORTHERN CAPE – The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, along with the management of SAPS in the province were in De Aar in Pixley ka Seme District this morning, 21 November 2022 to meet with all the members and employees of the district.

This is the fourth leg of the Internal Walk-about programme where she has been meeting with personnel of the South African Police Service in the Northern Cape.

During the inter action sessions, the Provincial Commissioner lends a listening ear to the ordinary members on the ground in order to find out how the Service can improve on the challenges that they face in the line of duty.

The initiative was kick-started in the Frances Baard District and has already been extended to ZF Mgcawu and John Taolo Gaetsewe Districts. 

The provincial commissioner was accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner of Corporate Services, Major General Henriette De Waal, the newly appointed Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Major General Luntu Ngubelanga, District Commissioner of Pixley ka Seme, Major General Nomana Adonis and several Provincial Heads. 

Also in attendance was representatives from the Provincial and District Community Policing Board.

In addition to the responses by the Deputy Provincial Commissioners and the Provincial Heads, Lieutenant General Otola reminded the members about her priorities that includes  Gender-based Violence, Destruction of Essential Infrastructure and the Eradication of Illegal Mining.   She also assured the members that their concerns will be attended too.  

To the members who were recently promoted, Lt Gen Otola only had one request; “The work started yesterday. Go out and work”. She also asked them to take up their posts on 1 December 2022 as required and avoid being demoted.

She concluded her speech by asking the members to avoid getting involved in corruption,  consult with the Employee Health  and Wellness Services whenever they are having challenges and in conclusion she wished them well for the upcoming Festive Season.
