WATERBERG DISTRICT - Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe led a multi-disciplinary Operation ‘Vhuthu Hawe’ at Mantsole Weigh Bridge along the N1 North, near Bela Bela in Waterberg District.
The operation was under the watchful eye of Waterberg District Commissioner Major General Dikeledi Mangena, supported by Provincial Head of Public Operational Response Services Brigadier Tinyane. Members from the following environments formed part of the operation: Public Order Policing, Visible Policing from the five Districts namely Waterberg, Capricorn, Sekhukhune, Vhembe and Mopani Districts including High Way Patrol and Tactical Response Team and were also complemented by Traffic officials and Home Affairs Immigration officials.
The aim of the operation is to strengthen the impact of law enforcement in the Province through crime prevention and detection, public safety and cooperative policing between the five districts of the SAPS; as well as essential stakeholders in the fight against crime, including Traffic Police and Home Affairs Immigration Unit who were part of the operation. The insight of the operation was to tackle any illegal activities and offences including, removing unroadworthly vehicles from our roads, illegal transportation of goods and capturing of wanted suspects.
The following successes were achieved during the operation:
• 701 vehicles searched at roadblocks.
• 5 943 Persons searched.
• Admission of guilt fines (J534) issued to the value of R16900.00 to motorists for contravention of the Road Traffic Act (RTA).
• 8 vehicles were removed from the road and R40000.00 worth of summons issued.
• 25 undocumented persons arrested.
