Police members from the Anti-Gang Unit responded to information and searched a premises in Wetton Road, Lavender Hill on Sunday (2021-12-26) at around 02:40.
Upon arrival at the premises, they proceeded to a Wendy house and conducted a search where they confiscated a firearm. A 32-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
In an unrelated incident, an organised disruptive integrated operation in Hanover Park, led by the Anti-Gang Unit, resulted in the confiscation of three firearms and ammunition and a consignment of drugs. Three males between the ages of 24 and 30 were arrested and detained on charges of possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition and drugs.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in the Wynberg and Athlone Magistrate courts respectively on the mentioned charges.
