Bangkok: The Prime Minister discusses security measures to address the situation in the South. The Prime Minister summoned security forces to urgently address the unrest in the South, ordering strict enforcement of the law before flying to Nan to monitor the flood situation.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul traveled to Nan province to monitor the flood situation in the area. Prior to his departure, the Prime Minister convened a meeting with security officials, including Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence; Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; Mr. Narucha Kosasilvilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration; General Phana Klaewplodthuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army; General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army; and the Secretary-General of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC). The meeting aimed to monitor the unrest in several locations in the three southern border provinces that had occurred the previous night.
General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army, revealed that he will summarize the situation for the Prime Minister after insurgents in the three southern border provinces carried out simultaneous attacks in multiple locations across the three provinces. Regarding assistance for flood victims in the northern region, General Phana Klaewplodthuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, instructed agencies in the area to provide the best possible care for the affected population. The army has also deployed all its personnel and equipment to assist the people as much as possible.
In addition, Lieutenant General Narathip Poynok, Commander of the 4th Army Region, called to report the situation in the area to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister instructed that the injured civilians be taken care of and that the law be strictly enforced.
The Prime Minister spent over an hour in a meeting before departing for official duties to monitor the flood situation in Nan Province. He boarded his flight at 9:35 AM.
