According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, chaired a meeting to monitor the flood situation in the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand. Also present were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Yoschanan Wongsawat; Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Suriya Jungrungruangkit; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Watcharapol Khaokham; Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department, Witthaya Kaewmee; and heads of relevant government agencies. The meeting took place at the Phra Chao Suriyapong Pharitdet Meeting Room, 3rd floor, Nan Provincial Hall, and via electronic media. The purpose of the meeting was to assess the flood situation, monitor assistance provided to affected citizens, and consider short-term and long-term solutions and recovery plans.

In Nan Province, the flood situation is now beginning to ease as water levels recede in many areas. All sectors have mobilized resources to provide continuous assistance and recovery efforts, including cleaning and restoring homes, installing temporary bridges in areas where roads have been cut off, and accelerating the survey and restoration of affected public utilities, such as water and electricity systems, to restore normal operation as quickly as possible. The safety of residents in the area is being closely monitored to ensure they can return to normal life and transportation as soon as possible. All agencies have been instructed to closely monitor the rainfall and water levels, as it is still the rainy season, and to integrate cooperation among all sectors in monitoring, assessing, and managing the water situation, as well as providing timely assistance to flood-affected residents.

Regarding the Royal Irrigation Department, the Prime Minister has instructed them to continuously monitor and assess the water situation, analyzing rainfall data, water volume, water levels, and forecasts to evaluate water movement trends, especially in key areas, economic zones, urban communities, and downstream areas. Up-to-date information is crucial so that provinces and relevant agencies can use it for decision-making and advance public warnings. He emphasized that if it is assessed that a mass of water is likely to move into a particular area, immediate public warnings should be issued to allow time for preparation, moving belongings, relocating vehicles, and prioritizing the evacuation of patients, the elderly, bedridden patients, and vulnerable groups from high-risk areas as quickly as possible. Furthermore, personnel, machinery, equipment, water pumps, evacuation routes, and safe areas must be prepared to assist the public when necessary.

For flood management in affected areas, please expedite the pumping of water from low-lying areas and areas with stagnant water to restore the situation to normal as quickly as possible. In areas where water levels have receded, immediate restoration efforts should be undertaken, including repairs to homes, roads, bridges, electricity systems, water supply systems, hospitals, and agricultural areas. Furthermore, relevant agencies should quickly assess the damage to provide assistance to the public as soon as possible.

Regarding the restoration of transportation routes, the Prime Minister instructed the Royal Irrigation Department, which has the necessary machinery, equipment, and supplies, including temporary bridges (Bayine bridges), to be used as replacements in case bridges are damaged or cut off by the currents. This is to ensure that people can resume their daily lives and travel as quickly as possible. The Prime Minister also instructed the Royal Irrigation Department to consider increasing the number of Bailey bridges or relocating bridges from low-risk areas to support areas with urgent needs first. Furthermore, the Prime Minister commended the collaborative efforts of various agencies in assisting the public and resolving the situation in the affected areas, and requested that all agencies integrate their efforts to the fullest extent to ensure rapid and efficient access to and assistance for the public.

However, the Royal Irrigation Department continues to prepare for the water situation, especially by monitoring flood-prone areas, preparing machinery and equipment for water drainage and assisting the public, as well as supporting post-flood recovery efforts, in order to resolve the situation and allow people to return to normal life as quickly as possible.
