WINDHOEK: President Hage Geingob expressed his satisfaction with the successful conclusion of the ninth Dr Hage Geingob Football Cup this past weekend. The President shared his thoughts on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the event saw a massive turnout of fans at the Independence Stadium, where the Namibian Legends clashed with the South African Legends. The main event featured Eeshoke Chula Chula Football Club (FC) defeating African Stars FC with a score of 1-0 in what was described as a high-quality and entertaining football match.

Geingob highlighted that the successful ninth edition of the Cup demonstrated the Namibian public’s enthusiasm for football, especially when events are organized in an orderly and inclusive manner. He extended his gratitude to the organizing committee and sponsors, including MTC, Bank Windhoek, and Namibia Breweries, for their commitment and support, which he credited for the large turnout and the event’s success.

The President also recognized the vital role of media in disseminating information and entertainment. He thanked media houses for their continued support and for projecting the values of inclusivity embodied by the Cup.

In a separate match during the event, Galz and Goals defeated Ongos FC with a score of 1-0.
