President Cyril Ramaphosa will today, 09 December 2021, address the 8th Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator Facilitation Council virtual meeting.
The ACT Accelerator was launched in April 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and as a global collaboration that brings together governments, scientists, business, civil society, philanthropists and global health organisations.
The Council aims to accelerate the development and production – as well as equitable access to – COVID-19 tests, treatments, and vaccines.
This 8th meeting is necessitated by the fact that COVID-19 continues to be a global threat.
President Ramaphosa will address the meeting alongside the Director General of the World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Store.
President Ramaphosa and Prime Store are Co-Chairs of the Council.
