The Minister in the Presidency, Mr Mondli Gungubele, together with the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Ms Patricia De Lille and the Minister of Employment and Labour, Mr Thulas Nxesi, will lead a media briefing to reflect on the outcomes of Phase One of the Presidential Employment Stimulus and further outline Phase Two.
The Presidential Employment Stimulus was first announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa in October 2020 as part of government’s response to the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The employment stimulus has since supported the most rapid expansion of public employment in South Africa’s history, in addition to protecting existing jobs in vulnerable sectors and providing livelihoods support to those who are self-employed.
