The Premier of the Free State, S.H Ntombela, accompanied by Members of the Executive Council, Heads of Departments, Mayors and councillors, will host a Provincial Imbizo in Frankfort, in the Free State as part of the District Development Service Delivery Model (DDM).
This emanates from the recent visit to the Free State Province by President Ramaphosa as part of a process of engaging with communities. The Provincial Imbizo will provide government an opportunity to assess the level of service delivery in the town and surrounding areas, the extent to which the DDM has been institutionalized as well as provide the Premier and EXCO an opportunity to listen to the people and respond to their concerns and recommendations.
As part of an integrated service delivery model, Provincial Imbizo will assist to highlight challenges and unblock any blockages to service delivery in line with the District Development Model (DDM) which is an all of government and society approach that enables integrated and responsive planning, implementation, and budgeting through the ‘One Plans’.
As part of a two day programme, which will start on Thursday, the Premier will be meeting with Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and Community Workers Programme (CWP) officials and later hosting the Gala Dinner, where she will meet with white minority, municipality officials, Heads of Departments and the MEC’s, in an effort to tackle some issues faced.
The imbizo will commence with a visit to the following projects on Friday:
- Sewer Spillage
- Refurbished Mafube Hospital
- Sod –turning for the building of Thuto Lwazi, Secondary School
- Sod- turning- for the building of multipurpose centre in the area
From Wednesday, 18 May service delivery departments such Health, Education, Home Affairs, and SASSA will be in the area to offer their services. Source: Government of South Africa
