Media coverage and accreditation for Gauteng SOPA 2022
On Monday, 21 February 2022, the Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), Honourable Ntombi Mekgwe will preside over the Official Opening of the Legislature, where in terms of Rule 14 of the Standing Orders, the Honorable Premier David Makhura will deliver the State of the Province Address (SOPA), taking place at the Brixton Multipurpose Centre, Johannesburg.
The 2022 Premier’s address marks the mid-year review of the 6th administration and is expected to highlight achievements made over the past years and also present a programme of action for the remainder of the current administration.

Due to the stringent Covid-19 regulations at the venue, this year’s event will have limited activities and provision for working members of the media will be made up to a maximum of 40 members. Accreditation will be prioritised to a reporter and a camera personnel from each media house, physically at the venue to cover the Premier’s address. The Legislature encourages all other reporters to utilise the online streaming platforms provided by both the Gauteng Provincial Legislature and Gauteng Provincial Government for their coverage.
To obtain the required accreditation for the day’s proceedings, all working members of the media are requested to complete the SOPA 2022 electronic accreditation form(link is external) by close of business on Wednesday, 16 February 2022.
Accreditation cards can be collected from Thursday, 17 February to 20 February 2022, 9h00 to 16h00, at the Gauteng Provincial Legislature Precinct in Johannesburg.
