Premier of the North West Province, Kaobitsa Bushy Maape has expressed his sadness at the passing of City Press feature journalist Poloko Tau.
Poloko Tau was born and bred at Makgobistad in Ratlou Local Municipality in the North West. He graduated his junior Degree in Communications at the Mahikeng Campus of the North West University at the dawn of the millennium. He cut his teeth in journalism in the early 2000s and his career spans close to two decades.
Premier Maape maintains while Tau held government officials to account on a number of issues his sense of news was also orientated within the realm of developmental journalism.
” As the province we take pride in having produced an astute journalist like Poloko Tau. We have lost somebody who was passionate about his work but critically about the socio-economic development of his province” remarked Premier Maape.
Premier Maape says Tau’s contribution to the country’s public discourse through his meticulous writings will be engraved in the annals of what encapsulates ethical journalism.
“It is his mannerism which set him apart from his peers. His line of questioning was confined within finding the truth and for officials to account. Any country which prides itself with true democratic values principles will do everything in its power to promote free press”.
Premier Maape extends his sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues in the media fraternity.
