Preferred Travel Group Takes Bold Steps Toward Net Zero with New Climate Action Plan

Preferred Travel Group, the parent company of Preferred Hotels and Resorts, Beyond Green, Historic Hotels of America, Historic Hotels Worldwide, PTG Consulting, and Beyond Green Travel, is solidifying its dedication to sustainable tourism and climate action by launching a comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CAP). Developed in collaboration with the Travel Foundation, an internationally recognized leader in sustainable tourism, this initiative reinforces the company commitment to leading the travel industry in tackling climate change. Building on its pledge to the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, Preferred Travel Group aims to set a new benchmark for the industry.

Recognizing the pressing need for climate leadership, scalable solutions, and collective action within tourism, Preferred Travel Group is fully committed to making climate action a core priority, supported by active employee involvement. The development of its corporate Climate Action Plan reflects a broader shift towards integratin
g sustainability into its measures of business success. Through its partnership with the Travel Foundation, the company ensures its climate efforts are aligned with industry best practices and seeks to inspire stakeholders to embrace this critical journey.

The CAP development focuses on creating a transparent, public-facing document that outlines the company objectives and key actions to cut carbon emissions in half by 2030, with the ultimate goal of achieving net zero before 2050. Supported by an internal cross-departmental strategy, the plan will kick off with specific activities starting in 2025, following the five pathways of the Glasgow Declaration. Employee engagement will play a central role in ensuring seamless integration of climate actions across all departments.

To set the stage for the CAP, Preferred Travel Group partnered with ecollective, a UK-based carbon consultancy, to measure the company carbon emissions and establish a baseline. This data-driven approach serves as the foundation for devel
oping targeted emission reduction strategies, enabling the company to meet its ambitious climate goals while fostering transparency and accountability. Based on the findings from ecollective and input from employees, Preferred Travel Group is identifying key opportunities to embed climate action into every facet of its operations.

To further guide this initiative, the company has formed an executive Climate Steering Committee and a Climate Action Task Force, comprised of dedicated volunteers, to prioritize climate-related actions. Additionally, the company will soon launch all-associate climate action training sessions to boost climate literacy, share effective practices, and drive collective change throughout the organization.
