The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be shutting down the 300mm bulk water main in Viking Way, Epping Industria 1 on Friday, 8 October 2021 from 20:00 until Saturday, 9 October 2021 at 02:00 to replace the inline water meter. This will enable the maintenance team to do the work safely.
Alternate water supply will be rerouted to Epping Industria 1 during this period and although only slight pressure reduction is expected, industrial customers should take steps to mitigate against risk of possible water supply disruption if necessary.
This work forms part of the City’s proactive maintenance plan, which flagged the meter as faulty. If it is not replaced, it will affect the City’s ability to monitor distribution of water within the system.
Careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure minimal disruption to the water supply in the affected area.
As a precautionary measure, businesses are advised to store water in clean, sealed containers for use during this period and to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.
This operation will help ensure continued reliable water supply to residents and reduce unaccounted-for water.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused.
