Postmasburg SAPS in conjunction with the Northern Cape Liquor Board and the Departments of Education and Health and Tsantsabane Alcohol and Drug Services hosted a public speaking competition with the topic of discussion FAS ( Foetal Alcohol Syndrome) and Teenage pregnancy.
Three schools, Postmasburg High, Blink Klip High and Ratang Thuto high schools participated on 14 September 2021 at the ACVV Centre in Postmasburg.
Four learners per school participated and were adjudicated by 7 judges.
The learners each received certificates of participation and each school was awarded a trophy and received promotional items.
The theme: #SOBRIETY IS MY RESPONSIBILITY is aimed at addressing excessive liquor consumption and the impact that binge drinking have on the youth.
This event kick started the Sobriety Week Campaign which commenced on 13 September 2021 and will conclude on 18 September 2021 with a fun run.
Various operational actions will also be conducted during this period inclusive of compliance inspections and roadblocks.
