Postmasburg SAPS embarked on Gender-Based Violence awareness march

NORTHERN CAPE – On 08 December 2021, an invitation was extended to all stakeholders in Postmasburg to jointly stand up against gender-based violence through a march in the streets of Postmasburg with one voice saying ‘No to GBV’.

 

Amongst the dignitaries was the newly elected Tsantsabane Mayor, Ms Helena English and Councillors.

 

Participants included the Municipal Manager,  the Postmasburg Station Commander, Lt Col Andries Witbooi, the Community Policing Forum, the Office of the Premier: Moral Regeneration, Director Mbuyiselo Mguzulwa and the Taxi Association representative, Mr Frans Hael.

 

Amongst the messages of support rendered by stakeholders included:

 

  • Male gender to try and be more affectionate than aggressive in all forms of relationships.

 

  • The female gender was motivated to never be silent to any form of violence.

 

  • Motivate Parents to provide enough love and affection to their children especially a girl child.

 

  • To never doubt the value in yourself as a person.

 

  • Gender-based violence should never be considered as normal and should be addressed and reported immediately to prevent more harm.

 

A pledge of Gender-based violence was signed by all stakeholders committing their support and cooperation and not to look the other way.
