FREE STATE – The Safer Festive Season Operations are underway within the Free State to create a safer and secure environment for those living peacefully in the society but some aren’t ready for quietness as dagga trafficking continues but police manages to mitigate the situation tactically by apprehending the perpetrators, especially in the eastern Free State.
At Ficksburg on Thursday, 3 November 2022 between 10:00 and 20:00 Bloemfontein Public Order Police Unit members were conducting crime prevention duties in Ficksburg when they stopped and searched a suspicious blue Volkswagen Citi Golf. In the process they found dagga to an estimated street value of R20000 and arrested the undocumented person.
Meanwhile in Phuthaditjhaba the Welkom Public Order Police Unit was busy with crime combating duties at Setsing Shopping Complex which is under construction when they notice suspicious young man hiding plastic bag on his waist. They approached him and he tried to run away but he was caught few meters near supermarket. Upon searching him, police found 10 small plastic zip lock bags containing Rock drugs. The 28-year-old suspect was charged with possession of drugs. The team went further arrested three young suspects in their 20s at Mphatlalatsane Village and Mandela Park Mall in Phuthaditjhaba whilst patrolling. They were searched and found in possession of zip locks plastics bags containing dagga and cash in their possessions and other at certain house. All the arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Ficksburg and Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate courts separately for dealing in dagga and drugs.
