Police seek next of kin of unidentified bodies

KARIEGA - The South African Police Service in Uitenhage are urgently trying to trace the next-of-kin of two unidentified bodies. On Wednesday, 4 January 2023 at about 15:10, the body of an unknown male, presumably in his early twenties, was found next to the R75 road, Kariega. (Close to the Amanzi turn-off).

The man had multiple stab wounds to his neck. The victim was clad in a black jacket, blue T-shirt, beige trousers and beige socks. The motive for his death is unknown at this stage and a case of murder is under investigation. Anyone who might be able to assist in identifying the victim is requested to contact Detective Const Frederick Bosman on 078 196 6590.

In a second unrelated case, the body of a male (presumably between 25 - 30 years old) was discovered on Friday, 20 January 2023 at 18:35 by community members. The victim was lying in the bushes next to Doringhoekroad, Groendal in Gerald Smith and had multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The victim was clad in a grey tracksuit pants, a red, blue and white Relay cap, black Kappa T-shirt and a mustard pair of Ellesse tekkies.

The wording ‘Deon’ is tattooed on his left wrist and his left ring finger is amputated. The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage. Uitenhage Police have opened a case of murder and is appealing to anyone who can assist in identifying the victim, anyone who might be looking for a relative who may be missing or anyone who has information about the case to contact Detective Sergeant Ricardo January on 072 217 5772, SAPS Uitenhage on 041 996 3438 or the nearest police station.
