Police seek community’s assistance with murder investigation

SAPS Mount Road Detectives is seeking the community’s assistance in a murder investigation where an 87-year-old man was found murdered in his house in Cotswold Extention on Friday, 19 August 2022.

It is alleged that at approximately 08:45 on abovementioned date at Hornbill Crescent, Cotswold Extention, community members alerted the police of a possible housebreaking in progress as they noticed someone running from the house. On arrival, the members found the back door forced open. The house was ransacked and the body of Ockert Bosch was found lying on the floor. At the time no foul play was suspected due to the medical history of the deceased. However, post mortem results indicated to the contrary and revealed that Mr Bosch had died due to blunt force trauma to the head.

Various items were stolen; clothing, household appliances, including a washing machine, 2 x 12 piece Noritake tea sets and 2 x wall clocks. The patterned tea sets are quite unique.

Police are investigating a cases of housebreaking and murder.

An appeal is made to second hand shops to be on the lookout for the tea sets and if identified to contact police. Also, if anyone can also assist with any information relating to the murder is asked to contact D/WO Riaan Steyn on 082 657 0447 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
