Police search for house robbery suspects

QONCE – Police are on high alert following the robbery of an elderly couple at their Baysville home in East London in the early hours of this morning. It is alleged that the couple was asleep when the wife heard their dog barking inside the house, she went to investigate but saw nothing. The dog barked again, went to check again and that’s when she met four (4) men inside the house, all armed with firearms. They then ordered her to the bedroom where they tied the husband and ordered the wife to open the safe. They took three (3) rifles, pistol and jewellery. They demanded the bank card with the pin and left two suspects behind while the other two went to withdraw cash from the ATM. On coming back they took the couple’s vehicle and drove away.

The couple’s vehicle was later found abandoned near Frere hospital. No shots were fired and no one was injured during the ordeal.

Police requests anyone who can assist with information to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Nompendulo Qwede on 0714752150 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111, all information will be treated with confidentiality.
