Police recover drugs and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Kraaifontein

WESTERN CAPE - Police members attached to the Provincial Extortion Task Team were busy with stop and search operations in Kraaifontein policing precinct on Monday, 13 February 2023, when they followed up on information relating to firearms and drugs being stored at two premises.

The members departed to an address in Boesak Street, Wallacedene, approached the premises and entered the residence. They immediately started to search the premises and the occupants and confiscated a firearm. They arrested and detained a 32-year-old male on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as he was not in possession of a valid license to be in possession of the mentioned firearm.

Meanwhile the convoy drove to Balencia Street and entered a dwelling. The female who was present resisted the presence of the police members. The members were not deterred in any way and proceeded to search the dwelling and confiscated mandrax tablets and methamphetamine. The 28-year-old female was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of drugs.

Once charged the duo are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Blue Downs Magistrate court on the mentioned charges.
