Police outsmart an alleged drug dealer at a local taxi rank

A crime combating operation around Botshabelo yielded success as police confiscated drugs and apprehended a male suspect.

 

On Tuesday 11 January 2022, Botshabelo Crime Prevention members were conducting their patrols around Reahola Shopping Complex near a local taxi rank.  Main aim was to prevent common robberies and drug trafficking.

 

On the same day at about 13:00 members noticed one suspicious African male standing next to a hawker’s table. Upon searching around him police found 14 grams of dagga.

 

A 23-year-old was apprehended for dealing in drugs.

 

Police confiscated 32 packets of crystal meth, five mandrax tablets and 14 grams of dagga.  Cash amounting to R 1 500, 00 was also found in the suspect’s possession.

 

The 23-year-old is expected to appear before Botshabelo Magistrates’ Court soon.
