Members from the Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit went the extra mile while attending to a complaint on 10 November 2021 at 12:00 in Sewende Laan, Galeshewe when they noticed an elderly man sitting on a bridge.

 

The man allegedly lost his balance and fell into a ditch filled with water. Sgt Siphiwe Mdunge and Const Patience Fortuin rushed to offer assistance to the drowning man and managed to pull him out of the water filled ditch.

 

The man was taken to hospital for medical attention and is in a stable condition.

 

“The Provincial Head for Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences, Brig Nicky Mills applauded Sgt Siphiwe Mdunge and Const Patience Fortuin for their bravery and willingness to put their own lives at risk to save a member of the community who was in distress. Their dedication and commitment to protect and serve their community does not go by unnoticed, said Brig Mills.”
