Police members visit special school for people with disabilities

PHALABORWA: In an effort to improve police interactions with people with disabilities and to ensure their safety, the Communication Officer of SAPS Phalaborwa Sgt Mongwe together with Sgt Makhubele of Social Crime Prevention visited Frangipan Special School on Wednesday 30 November 2022.

The initiative also aimed to address crimes affecting both young and older people with disabilities through continuous visits and monitoring of their learning environment.

During the engagement, members assisted the learners with their school work and gave motivational advice where they encouraged them to live a positive life and remain optimistic.

Members further applauded educators for the good work of caring for the learners. Different forms of abuse were strongly condemned and words of hope were the message of the day from the caring officers.

In conclusion, police urged the educators to be always on the forefront in championing for the rights of people with disabilities.
