Police members remain committed to combat crime at the highest level

WESTERN CAPE – Police members in this province remain committed to combat crime that may threaten the safety and the security of the community.

Mfuleni police responded to a complaint of pointing of a firearm on Monday 21 November 2022. When they arrived at the address in Government Street in Bardale Village, Mfuleni, the complainant pointed out the suspect. The police members searched the living room and found a 9mm pistol hidden underneath the bed. The 35-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Police members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in the policing precinct of Kraaifontein to combat gang violence, pursued information after the murder of a 16-year-old man on Tuesday 22 November 2022. Upon entering the residence in Pescodia Court in Scottsdene, Kraaifontein, they searched the premises and confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition and mandrax tablets hidden underneath the kitchen sink and arrested a 33-year-old female on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and possession of drugs.

Mitchells Plain police were busy with patrols on Tuesday 22 November 2022. When they approached the corners of Montague and Kimberly Roads at around 22:00, they noticed three unknown males and stop and searched the trio. The police members arrested a 24-year-old man when he was found in possession of a silver 7.65 mm pistol with ammunition on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Blue Downs and Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s court on the mentioned charges.
