The importance of partnership policing proved successful, when police members in the Western Cape arrested suspects for various serious offences.
Lentegeur police members were busy with patrols on Thursday, 18 November 2021 when they received a tip off from the community. The members responded and drove to Blombos Street, Lentegeur. Armed with the information to their availability they searched the premises and ultimately confiscated a 9mm Norinco pistol with ammunition. A 28-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as he could not provide a valid licence to be in possession of the mentioned firearm.
In an unrelated matter, police members of Operation Lockdown II, Delft Combat team, assisted Delft police on Thursday, 18 November 2021 at about 19:51 and arrested a 41-year-old woman on a charge of dealing in drugs.
The members held an operation and upon searching a premises in Blikkiesdorp, they confiscated drugs and Methamphetamine.
Meanwhile Grassy Park police members conducted a focussed stop and search operation in New Horizon today, Friday 19 November 2021. Upon searching a premises, they confiscated a consignment of liquor. Whilst busy at the identified address, their attention was drawn to a house opposite the road. Upon inspection they discovered a huge amount of liquor stored in a room. Liquor with an estimated street value of R100 000 was confiscated. A 68-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of illegal trading in liquor.
Once charged, the suspects will appear in the Mitchells Plain, Bellville and Wynberg Magistrates’ courts respectively on the mentioned charges.
