NELSPRUIT -The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has appreciated the excellent work done by the team of members from Standerton Crime Intelligence, Standerton Dog Unit and Standerton Police Station in making inroads in the fight against drugs. The said members arrested a male suspect aged 36 for dealing in drugs.
The men and women in Blue received information yesterday, 24 May 2022, around 15:00, about a man who was dealing in drugs at Extension 6 Informal settlement in Standerton. They followed up on the details as provided. A search was then conducted whereby the suspect was found in possession of 78 satchets of suspected nyaope as well as 3 bags of dagga. The weight of the dagga was 1782 grams with an estimated street value of R5200.00. He was immediately arrested and charged for dealing in dagga.
He is expected to appear in Standerton Magistrate’s Court, today, 25 May 2022 facing the said charges.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has challenged members of the community not to stop with providing police with information about drug peddlers as the police will bring their side of ensuring that such perpetrators are brought to book, like in this instance. “We will continue to squeeze crime and take control of our streets from the hands of criminals. What we only need from our communities is to bring forth information about crime then we will act accordingly without fear or favour” emphasized the General.
