BLOEMFONTEIN - An enquiry docket was registered with the police concerning the fire that broke out at Samson's Building, corner of Charlotte Maxeke and Fitchardt Street - Bloemfontein Central Business District. The police on patrol noticed smoke coming from the rooftop of the shopping complex popularly known as China City Mall on Monday 05 December 2022 at about 19:00.

The Fire Brigade was called to the scene and arrived to fight the raging fire throughout the night. The extent of the damage caused by the fire is still unknown. Forensic Science Laboratory fire investigators are expected to visit the scene to conduct investigations in order to determine the cause and extent of the fire damage.
