Port St Johns detectives are on the hunt for suspects involved in the brutal murders of three people, yesterday at Tyeni location.
On Sunday, police visited the areas on allegation of faction fighting between groups from the Gangata, Siphusiphu, Ziphondo, Maqhinebeni and Mhlotsheni areas attacking the Tyeni community.
The nearby forest where the incident took place was searched and two bodies were found. A third body was later discovered. All three deceased were men. One victim survived the attack and was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition. All victims sustained gunshot wounds. A formal identification is yet to be conducted.
Approximately, 18 homesteads were damaged and burnt down. The community had vacated the area fearing for their safety.
Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.
