WESTERN CAPE – The efforts of police members to do their bid in ensuring a safer community were rewarded when they arrested suspects in possession of an unlicensed firearm and dagga in two isolated incidents.
Lwandle police members were busy with crime prevention duties on Saturday 19 November 2022. In Nombula Street in Asanda Village, they saw an unknown man who took an object from his waist. The police members pursued the suspect on foot and apprehended him. They confiscated a revolver and arrested the 34-year-old suspect on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Police members of Operation Restore responded to information and proceeded to an identified address on Sunday 20 November 2022. Upon arrival in Tsunami informal settlement in Delft, they found an unknown male. They searched the premises and confiscated a large quantity of dagga and cash. The 22-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in drugs.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Strand and Bellville Magistrate court’s on the mentioned charges.
