MOKWAKWAILA - SAPS Limpopo Provincial Corporate Communication and Liaison officials in partnership with the Mokwakwaila Police have embarked on a crime awareness campaign on, Monday 09 January 2023 with the local community radio station, Perfect Radio.
The Media Centre member, Sergeant Maphure Manamela was joined by VISPOL member and station communication officer Sergeant Tinyiko Manganye who informed listeners about various topics and strategically addressed problematic crimes in this area which include rapes, robberies, assault GBH, theft, missing persons and domestic violence.
Listeners were warned against the use of drugs and the dangers thereof and the abuse of liquor which mostly generate serious and violent crimes including domestic violence and gender-based violence. The liquor outlet owners were urged to ensure compliance with the Liquor Act Regulations.
The members also emphasized the importance of partnership policing and the pivotal role of these structures in the fight against crime. Other topics included mob justice, dangers of hitchhiking and engaging in illegal mining activities.
Lastly, listeners were urged to be vigilant as the schools re-open, especially parents and guardians who must ensure the safety of their children. Parents and students were also warned about bogus institutions and were advised against the carrying of large amounts of cash during registrations and that they should consider options that are at lower risk such as cellphone banking or internet transfers.
