Police continue with crime awareness campaigns in Giyani

The police in Giyani led by the Station Commander Brigadier Serakwana, accompanied by the acting VISPOL Commander Lieutenant Colonel Matiyane together with the Sector Commanders, supported by the operational team members and Community Policing Forum members, have on Friday 01 October 2021 conducted a safer awareness campaign at  Giyani in Mopani District.

 

The operation kicked off in the morning with monitoring of long distance buses at Mopani Spar Giyani.

 

After monitoring the busses, they continued to Giyani central business area, taxi rank and Masingita mall for monitoring compliance with Covid-19 regulations and to patrol around CBD.

 

The campaign was conducted through loud hailing and walkabouts and the following topics were addressed:

 

*Tips at ATMs

* Job Scammers

* Illegal Mining

* Child Neglect

* Impersonating police

* Gender based violence

* Adhering to Covid-19 regulations

 

Furthermore, 830 pamphlets were distributed to the community members along with the contact numbers of the Police Service points inclusive of the District Commissioner.

 

The operational team members proceeded to Nkomo B outside Giyani to arrest illegal miners and one male suspect was arrested for illegal mining.
