Police confiscate illegal explosives and arrest a 34-year-old man

The police at Apel in Sekhukhune District have arrested a 34-year-old man who was found in possession of explosives at one of the mines in Atok, Apel policing area on Tuesday, 22 October 2024 at around 15:00.

According to reports, the police were summoned to the scene at a mine by the security officers who found the suspect in possession of illegal explosives. Upon arrival, they arrested the suspect and confiscated the illegal explosives.

During preliminary investigations, it was established that the suspect had more explosives that was kept at his residence. The team, on arrival at the said area, found the illegal explosives in the house.

The members of the explosives and forensic unit were also summoned to the scene.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has applauded the officers for recovering the explosives and arresting the suspect.

The suspect will appear before the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 24 October 2024.

The police investigations are
