A male suspect (25) was arrested in hospital after allegedly accompanying a female victim (17), for medical treatment in hospital on Thursday, 29 August 2024.

Police received information about a badly assaulted victim that was brought to hospital by her family members, together with her male friend.

On arrival at the hospital, members were led to a bed where a lifeless body of the teenage girl was found. The victim sustained multiple injuries and Police investigation revealed that a male friend was involved in the attack. Police members arrested the suspect who is expected to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court soon

The motive behind the attack is unknown at this moment

The Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has welcomed the arrest of the suspect. The General further condemned the senseless murder of the young victim.
