DURBAN – On Friday, 25 November 2022, a joint operation was conducted by Thornville Detectives, the Pietermaritzburg Trio Crime Task Team and Magma Security and Investigation in the Thornville area.

The team was searching for suspects who were involved in a murder where a 28-year-old man was assaulted to death by members of the community on 3 November 2022. Four suspects aged between 34 and 64 were arrested and charged with murder at Thornville. Two suspects were arrested for malicious damage to property and possession of drugs.

All the suspects are appearing before the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court this morning. We are appealing to members of the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Residents are urged to contact police if they suspect criminal activity are being committed in their neighbourhood.
